San Jose -- Four distinguished Bellarmine College Preparatory alumni were inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame at an on-campus event that included the ceremony, reception, and dinner held on August 24.

The 2019 Hall of Fame inductees are Kevin Frandsen, Class of 2000 (Athletics); Bill Del Biaggio, Jr., Class of 1958 (Business); Jim Harville, Class of 1963 (Humanities & Fine Arts); and Major General D. Scott McKean, Class of 1986 (Public Service).  

San Jose -- As is tradition for Jesuit schools, Bellarmine College Preparatory began the 2019-20 school year the morning of August 19 with the Mass of the Holy Spirit.  Faculty, staff, students, and the Bellarmine Jesuit community gathered for the outdoor Mass with Fr. Bob Shinney, S.J., as presider.   

San Jose, CA –   Sahith Kudaravalli, a junior attending Bellarmine College Preparatory, was recently named the 2019 Most Philosophical Student in America by the Kids Philosophy Slam. His was the winning essay among those submitted by more than 4,000 high school students.

Bellarmine to Honor Four Alumni Hall of Fame Inductees

San Jose, CA – Bellarmine College Preparatory will recognize four distinguished alumni at its Hall of Fame ceremony the evening of August 24, 2019.

Those to be honored, and their respective categories, are: Kevin Frandsen, Class of 2000 (Athletics); Bill Del Biaggio, Jr., Class of 1958 (Business); Jim Harville, Class of 1963 (Humanities & Fine Arts); and Major General D. Scott McKean, Class of 1986 (Public Service).

Bellarmine College Preparatory held its commencement ceremony the morning of May 25. The graduation of 398 seniors followed a Baccalaureate Mass held the evening of May 23, with both events taking place on the San Jose campus of the school that has been educating young men in the Catholic Jesuit tradition since 1851. Nine Bells traveled to Dallas, Texas to compete in the National Speech and Debate Tournament where their combined efforts landed Bellarmine the award of School of Outstanding Distinction, which is given to the top 10 schools in the nation!

Last night at Gilroy High School, under truly ideal conditions—for distance runners, anyway—the Bells had an historic night in finishing third in the CCS Track and Field finals.  The third place finish was an unprecedented 10th straight finish ‘on the podium’—the top 4 teams earn a trophy and get to stand on the podium—for the Bells, and this year was a big upset as well; prior to the meet, the Bells looked to finish anywhere from 4th to 6th, so 3rd is a testament to the clutch efforts of all who participated.

On May 15th, the Bellarmine community gathered in the gym for the annual awards assembly. It provided some terrific opportunities to recognize students - especially members of the class of 2019 - who have made outstanding contributions over the course of the school year.  Highlights of the assembly included a performance by the Jazz Ensemble, the song "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" performed by the Fortissibro's, Bellarmine's resident acapella group, and the Salutatorian speech delivered by Ronan MacRunnels '19.

Team 254, the Cheesy Poofs, spent the days leading up to spring break participating in the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Championship in Houston, TX. The event is the world's largest celebration of STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) for students, drawing 404 teams from across the United States and nine countries around the world.
