This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personally identifiable information (“PII”) on our Site. PII is information that can be used on its own or with other information to identify, contact, or locate a single person. Through the Site and/or Services you may: obtain information about Bellarmine, its programs, personnel activities and events; employment opportunities; access to your account; to contact us; perform various functions as members of the Bellarmine community; donate to Bellarmine; and purchase Bellarmine themed products (“Services”).
We recommend that you read this Privacy Policy carefully as it provides important information about your personal information.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
Bellarmine may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, in its sole discretion. If we do so, we will post an updated Privacy Policy on the Site. Changes, modifications, additions, or deletions will be effective immediately upon their posting to the Site. If we make material or significant changes, we may also send registered users a notice that this Privacy Policy has been changed. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes. Your continued use of the Site and/or Services, and/or your continued provision of PII to us after the posting of such notice, will be deemed an acceptance of any changes and subject to the terms of the then-current Privacy Policy.
What PII do we collect from the people that visit our Site and/or use our Services?
Depending on the action you take or how you use our Site and/or Services, you may be asked to provide PII to enable you to take the action you wish to take or to otherwise enhance your online experience. We, or our service providers, may collect the following PIIs:
- First and last name
- Email address
- Credit card information
- Billing address
- Phone number
- Login credentials
- Student ID
- Voucher ID
- Order number
In addition, if you send us an email or otherwise contact us, we will collect the PII that you provide to us at that time.
When do we collect information?
We collect information directly from you when you visit or enter any information on our Site and/or use our Services, including registering on Blue, placing an order, using your account, contacting us, applying for a job, signing up for a newsletter, registering for programming, making a donation, or filling out a form. Additionally, we may collect information indirectly from you, such as through automated technologies (e.g., cookies).
How do we use your information?
We may use PII we collect from you in the following ways:
- To personalize your user experience and to allow us to deliver the type of content and product offerings in which you are most interested.
- To improve our Site and/or Services in order to better serve you.
- To administer a contest, promotion, survey or other Site and/or Services feature.
- To quickly process your transactions.
- To respond to your requests or register you for a program.
How do we protect visitor information?
Our Site is scanned with industry standard security software on a regular basis to locate and fix security holes and known vulnerabilities, including malware, in order to make your visit to our Site as safe as reasonably possible.
Your PII is maintained only on secured servers protected by firewalls and is only accessible by a limited number or categories of people (for example, faculty) to whom Bellarmine has granted special access rights. All of these people are required to keep the information confidential. In addition, all sensitive or financial information you supply is encrypted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology by us or our processors.
We implement a variety of security measures when a user places an order, enters, submits, or accesses their information to maintain the safety of your PII. All financial transactions are processed by a third-party gateway provider, and such financial information is not stored on our servers.
Do we use 'cookies'?
Yes. Cookies are small files that are stored on your browser or the hard drive of your computer. Bellarmine utilizes temporary and long-lasting session cookies, including Google Analytics, in certain portions of our Site and/or Services to manage your interactive activities, such as class registration and shopping, and to provide convenience or personalized features to save you time on future visits. These cookies may collect device information, usage information, and/or location information. Most web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. You have the ability to accept or decline cookies via your browser preferences. If you decline or disable these cookies, some transactions may be not be completed. Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are necessary – or “essential” – for the Site and/or Services to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are mostly only set in response to actions made by you, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in or filling in forms. You can set your browser to block or alert you about these cookies, but if you do block them, some portions of the Site and/or Services will not work. These cookies do not store any personally identifiable information.
Functional Cookies
These cookies enable us to provide enhanced functionality and personalization. They may be set by us or by third-party providers whose services require the use of cookies. If you do not allow these cookies then some or all of these services may not function properly.
Performance Cookies
These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our Site and/or Services. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the Site and/or Services. For instance, Google Analytics are performance cookies. If you do not allow these cookies, we will not know when you have visited our Site, and will not be able to monitor its performance.
Targeting Cookies
These cookies may be set through our Site and/or Services by our advertising and marketing partners. They may be used by those companies to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant ads on other sites (e.g., retargeting), including social media platforms. Note that when targeting cookies are dropped, your PII (such as Device Information) will be shared with multiple other parties with whom Bellarmine does not have a relationship.
Google Analytics
As mentioned above, we use third-party analytics services, such as Google Analytics, to generate and process statistical or demographic data. These third parties use cookies to compile reports on the Site’s activity and Site visitors, and provide other services related to the Site activity and usage. The technologies used by Google may collect information such as your IP address, time of visit, whether you are a return visitor, and any referring website. Social Media
We use social media plug-ins (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram). These features may collect your IP address and/or other information as set forth in each social platform’s privacy policy, which page you are visiting on our Site, and may set a cookie to enable the feature to function properly. Bellarmine also has a presence on some social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Through our accounts on social medial platforms, we may in some instances collect PII when you interact with the Bellarmine accounts or otherwise communicate with us through those accounts. Any information that you post on social media is governed by each social platform’s privacy notices, and any PII that we collect via our social media accounts will be processed in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Disclosure to Third Parties
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your PII to outside parties unless we provide you with advance notice or as set forth in this Privacy Policy. Service providers obtain PII from us or directly from you in the course of performing functions for us only if these parties have agreed in writing to keep this information confidential. Service providers process your PII for the specific purpose of providing their services to us (and in accordance with our instructions). In some cases, service providers collect your PII directly from you, such as via cookies.
We may also release PII when we have a good faith belief its release is reasonably required to comply with the law, enforce our Site and/or Services policies, or protect Bellarmine’s or others' rights, property or safety. Non-personally identifiable visitor information may be provided to other parties for various uses.
Disclosure to Other Users
Student PII may be shared with or available to faculty, staff or parents in certain situations where Bellarmine feels such sharing is necessary to carry out its educational mission or to secure the exercise of parental rights. Other PII may be available to other users on a need to know basis, for example, administrativme personnel have access to the PII of employees to enable these personnel to perform their functions such as administering payroll.
Third Party Links
At our discretion, we may occasionally offer third-party products or services on our website. Such links do not constitute an endorsement by Bellarmine of those external websites, and Bellarmine is providing these links to you only as a convenience. For example, when you make a donation or when we post an embedded YouTube video, these third parties may directly collect your PII<. These third-party sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We therefore have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our Site and/or Services and welcome any feedback about these third-party sites.
Google AdSense Google's advertising requirements are stated in Google's Advertising Principles. These may be found at https://support.google.com/adwordspolicy/answer/1316548?hl=en. We have not enabled Google AdSense on our Site and/or Services, but we may do so in the future.
“Do Not Track”

Unsubscribing/CAN SPAM Act
The CAN-SPAM Act is a law that gives recipients of recipients of commercial marketing messages the right to have institutions such as Bellarmine stop sending such messages to them by email or text and provides penalties if this right is violated. Accordingly, you may unsubscribe from receiving certain future marketing emails from us. You can email us at: helpdesk@bcp.org, and we will promptly remove you from ALL marketing electronic correspondence from Bellarmine.
