A groundbreaking ceremony was held on campus the morning of January 27 in celebration of the beginning of construction on the new Wade Academic Center. The facility, scheduled to open for the start of the 2025/26 school year, will include 21 classrooms, the James A. Harville ’63 Speech and Debate Hub, Fr. Dick Cobb Center for Adult Spirituality, and the V. Ronald Pine ’57 Lobby. The building will also be home to our modern and classic languages department, computer sciences, the dean’s office, and new I-T center.
Participating in the ceremonial turning of the dirt at the groundbreaking ceremony were Jon Harvey, chair, Physical Resources Committee; Rod Jemison, principal; Fr. Dick Cobb, S.J.; Fr. Jerry Wade, S.J. ’55, chancellor emeritus; Chris Meyercord ’88, president; and Andy Schatzman, chair, Board of Trustees.
During the ceremony, attended by early supporters of the Capital Campaign, Mr. Meyercord thanked donors who have contributed greatly to date. “None of this would be possible without the incredible generosity that has been shown by you all here today,” he said. “You have been our early supporters, and your generous financial contributions have enabled us to get started on this wonderful transformation for our campus. We truly would not be here without your support, and I hope you will take great pride in knowing that you have made possible this important step forward for our community.”
