Bellarmine Theatre Arts Presents Production Befitting the Halloween Season

LTROI News

Marking the return of live theatrical performances since the pandemic, Bellarmine Theatre Arts is producing Let the Right One In, described by director Peter Canavese ‘92 as “a bloody horror show for Halloween.”

Equal parts brutal vampire tale and enchanting coming-of-age love story, the horror thriller adapts the bestselling novel and the award-winning Swedish film (remade in America as Let Me In by The Batman director Matt Reeves). Just as a series of bloody killings rock his world, bullied and lonely teenager Oskar meets the androgynous and entrancing Eli, and a beautiful but dangerous friendship begins. Eli, you see, has been a teenager for a very long time.

ADVISORY: The play depicts bloody violence and includes offensive bullying language. COVID-19 protocols are in place and masks are required for entry to the show.

Bellarmine’s production of Let the Right One In is designed by Gregg Carlson ‘94, Kathleen O’Brien, and Maren Lane; directed by Peter Canavese ‘92. The cast includes Bellarmine students as well as those from Presentation and Notre Dame high schools. Crew members are Bellarmine students.

Performances: October 29, 30, 31 (Halloween matinee—costumes encouraged and free candy!) and November 5, 6. All shows 7:30 p.m. except 2:00 p.m. matinee on Halloween.
