Two Bellarmine College Preparatory students from the Class of 2022 have earned a perfect score on a college-level Advanced Placement® (AP®) Exam in spring 2022.
Samuel Perrott and John Xu, both recent graduates of Bellarmine, were two of only 369 students in the world to earn every point possible on the AP Computer Science A Exam. Perrot is currently attending UCLA and Xu is attending Duke University.
“AP courses and exams are college-level, requiring great focus and persistence among participating students,” said Trevor Packer, head of the Advanced Placement Program. “We applaud the educators who encourage students to challenge themselves, who motivate and encourage diverse students to achieve their academic potential.”
In notifying the school, Packer also noted that, “These extraordinary academic accomplishments are likely a direct reflection of the top-quality education being offered at Bellarmine College Preparatory School. We applaud both your school's hard-working students and the devoted AP teachers who've so successfully engaged and challenged them with college-level material.”
“After coming out of Covid, I was apprehensive how students would perform academically,” said Brad Lindemann, chair of Bellarmine’s Computer Science department. “I was fortunate to have a great, eager group of students who performed great, as exemplified by the outstanding achievements of John and Samuel.”
Colleges and universities around the world receive AP scores for college credit, advanced placement, and/or consideration in the admission process.
