The Trustees are dedicated to the goal of maintaining the essential character of Bellarmine College Preparatory as a Catholic Jesuit college preparatory secondary school sponsored by Jesuits West of the Society of Jesus.
A provincial superior is the only person who can designate that a school within his province is an apostolic work of the Society of Jesus. The provincial formally restates the Society's sponsorship of the school every six years, and, therefore, affirms its Catholic and Jesuit mission and allows it to use the term "Jesuit." The Trustees commit to hold that mission in trust in cooperation with the province.

- Evaluate, hire, and, when necessary, terminate the President of the school
- Approve and adopt all major changes in the educational policies and programs of the school
- Approve diplomas and awards as recommended by the Principal
- Review and take appropriate action as to the budget, which is submitted upon recommendation of the President
- Promote major fundraising efforts
- Authorize any changes in tuition and fees within the school
- Authorize the construction of new buildings and major renovations to existing buildings and grounds
