Bells Make History at CCS

Cross Country

Last night at Gilroy High School, under truly ideal conditions—for distance runners, anyway—the Bells had an historic night in finishing third in the CCS Track and Field finals.  The third place finish was an unprecedented 10th straight finish ‘on the podium’—the top 4 teams earn a trophy and get to stand on the podium—for the Bells, and this year was a big upset as well; prior to the meet, the Bells looked to finish anywhere from 4th to 6th, so 3rd is a testament to the clutch efforts of all who participated. Of special historic note was sophomore Colin Peattie’s night: He won the 1600 and the 3200, the fifth time that double has been achieved in CCS history; His victory in the 3200 was the first in Bellarmine history; He broke the CCS sophomore record for the 1600 by 3 seconds (4:11.52); he ran the second fastest 1600 time in Bellarmine school history (#1 Scott Robinson 4:07.95 1987 State Champion)…quite a night.
